A prerequisite for the plugin to work is the correct introduction of configuration keys. Information on how to do it is described below.
The configuration of the Adquesto plugin allows the Publisher to choose on what part of the site the Quests shall be displayed.
It is possible to set display conditions based on the types of entries (e.g. posts, pages) and categories. The publisher can also indicate specific entries on which he does not want to display the Quests.
The article describes:
- configuration keys configuration,
- setting Quests’ display in the selected posts and in the selected categories,
- option for excluding Quests’ display in the selected posts,
- option for manual Quest’s location definition within the post,
- procedure for verification of the plugin configuration.
Key configuration and Quests display settings can be processed in the configuration panel, which is in the menu under the name Adquesto.
There are two configuration section in the panel:
- plugin configuration keys,
- Quests display settings.
Plugin configuration keys
Each website has unique data that is available in the website settings.
Detailed instructions on accessing the keys can be found in the article: How do I download the plug-in configuration keys?
Quests display settings
To have Quests displayed on the site, the main switch must be set to "Adquesto is on". With this switch, you can turn off the emission of the Quests on the whole website, regardless of other settings.
The settings contain a list of all types of entries and all categories of the site.
Quests display is based on the following principles:
Post type must be selected during configuration and matched with at least one category selected during configuration.
There are two options available:
"Switch on Adquesto for newly-added categories" - selecting this option, if a new category is created when creating a new entry, it will be automatically marked in the plug-in settings. Check this option if you want Adquesto to be active by default for newly-added categories.
"Don’t display the Quests to logged in admins, editors and authors" - selecting this option, logged-in users who browse the articles will not receive the Quests. This option does not disable the display of the testing Quest in the post preview.
Disabling Quests in the selected post
When editing any entry, the Adquesto metabox is available, which allows you to choose one of two options:
According to plugin settings
This setting means that the Quests shall be displayed within the post if it meets the requirements set in the configuration, i.e. it is of the appropriate type and is assigned to the correct category.
Do not show Quests
The setting means that Quest entries shall not be displayed. This is a setting superior to the configuration, i.e. even if the post meets the configuration settings, the Quests shall not be displayed.
Manual definition of the Quests’ position within the post
The Adquesto system automatically selects the Quest location. The position is calculated based on the number of characters and the size of the photos in the post.
This setting is not always the best choice for a given post - for more information on the Quest location definition, see the Rules for Publisher.
Manual determination of the Quest position consists in indicating the place while editing the post and clicking the Adquesto icon.
The image of the Quest shall appear in the indicated place. This is where the Quests will be displayed within the published post.
Important! If, while editing, the option "Display the Quests in compliance with the plugin settings” was selected, then manual definition of the position will result in displaying the Quest, even if the configuration settings are not met. This action gives additional opportunities regarding the settings. Przykłady konfiguracji wyświetlania questów w serwisie".
The setting „Don’t display the Quests” is superior to the manual position definition, i.e. even if the position is indicated the Quest shall not be displayed.
Check how Adquesto will look like on the Site.
1. Create a new post or edit the one already existing.
2.Click the button „Preview".
3. The testing Quest will be visible in the post preview.
If you don’t see the Quest, then the entry probably does not meet the display conditions (e.g. the entry is not assigned to the appropriate category or is too short).
Indicate manually the Quest position and click the "Preview" button again.
